Chiropractic Care: The Safe, Drug-Free Answer To Pain

Pain is a huge problem in the United States. Every day around the USA, millions of people suffering from pain do the same thing – take a drug to calm that pain down so they can function. Over-the-counter medications and NSAIDs are a common sight in every grocery store and pharmacy because the pain problem is such a big one, and affects so many.

The bigger problem, however, is that these medications do nothing to actually stop the problem causing the pain and, like a rug laid over a hole in the floor, simply cover it up. So the pain goes away for a short time but, inevitably, it comes back and more, stronger medication is needed.

What is Causing All This Pain?

At the root of many pain problems is misalignment of the spine, the vertebrae (bones) that help us stay upright and protect the delicate spinal cord and nerves of the nervous system. When these bones, or vertebrae, are misaligned they put pressure on the nerves, which is the true cause of most pain (and many other problems also). The problem with medicine is that it does nothing to help this spinal misalignment, and so does nothing to stop the actual cause of the pain.

What Causes the Spine to Become Misaligned?

There are, truth be told, many different reasons and causes that force the spine out of its correct alignment. Automobile accidents and whiplash are a common cause, as well as sports injuries from football, golf, tennis, running and more. The birth process is actually a big cause of spinal misalignment because it’s so traumatic, and some people are actually born with spine problems like scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine.

One of the biggest causes of spinal misalignment however is poor posture, a problem that’s getting worse all the time due to smartphone use. Today, literally millions of people young and old spend hours a day looking down at their smartphones, destroying the natural curvature of the neck (the ‘lordotic curve’) which, as we’ve discussed, puts pressure on the nerves and causes pain, headaches, migraines, problems with vision and hearing and much more.

Chiropractic Stops the Cause of the Pain

Unlike medications, Chiropractors go to the heart of the problem, the misalignments of the spine that are causing the pain, and fixes them, so that the pain diminishes and goes away over time and doesn’t come back. That’s because, if the spine is aligned correctly, the nerves heal and the pain stops, naturally.

That’s why chiropractic focuses on the spine, and why chiropractors correct spinal misalignments. By returning the vertebra back to their normal position and curvature, they remove the pressure on the nerves and thus stop the actual cause of the pain, without the need for medications and NSAIDs.
